Brothers
"Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk."~Susan Scarf Merrell
That's me, my dad, and my brothers - about 9 weeks into my life here in this world! My brothers were about 11 and 12. My dad would have been 34. That's crazy to me...at age 34 he had 5 kids and had been married for about 13 years!
Anywho, my brothers are coming to visit in May. I can't wait! There's something about having big brothers. It's definitely a different relationship than the one you have with big sisters...but you know your brothers have your back.
I was thinking the other day, whenever I finally DO get married, my dad won't be here to walk me down the aisle. But my brothers will be. I'll have one on each side, just like in this photo. I'll most certainly miss having my dad there, but the thought of having my brothers there makes me smile.
Do you have brothers? If so, are you close?

Awwww this is so sweet!!
I have a twin brother (who just made me an Auntie lol)
A foster brother who lives in Atlanta. We are very close.
I also have a "stray" brother. He used to live across the street from us and when his mom passed away, he just kinda came to stay with us lol. To this DAY I don't know how that happened lol. He moved in when he was about ummm 16 and moved out when he got married lol. He still comes over to moms house every couple days lol. He is just like blood lol.
OH that was me! LOL
I have 1 brother(younger than me) and we have the same mom and dad. He and I are EXTREMELY close. We are 5yrs apart in age. HE's well over 6 ft and 200+ lbs so I call him my "lil big brother".
I have two other brothers who we share the same Dad. One is a year older than me(yea I know..smh) and then the other is probably around 18 or so now. I haven't spoke to my older brother since 2002 and I've never had a relationship with the younger one. Sometimes I wish that the 4 of us(my 3 brothers and I) could all hang out and be super close but I know b/c of things in my family, that will never happen.
I have two brothers: 16 and 23 and we are very close. I always wished one of them was older than me but its cool. I spend almost everyday with them in some shape, form or fashion (they come, I go over there, we skype). I think it has a lot to do with being raised to stick with your family.
@Adrienne- LOL! That anonymous post gets me too sometimes. I forget to log in. Awww, I like how your family took him in - just goes to show you don't have to have that biological tie to call someone a 'brother.' :)
@mzinspiredmind :( Maybe one day, when everyone is older and gets to that "it is what it is" point in life. You never know. My dad has a brother who didn't grow up with him and the rest of their siblings...I would like to meet him one day. My mom said when they were younger he looked a lot like my dad.
@Monique - that's pretty cool! I talk to my sisters almost every day, email/text/phone, etc. I don't talk to my brothers as often, but I've noticed since my dad is gone they have kind of closed in the ranks and they call and check on me more often. :)
